VICKI LOVELEE (禕祺愛李) is a Chinese Canadian alt-pop sensation based in Markham, Ontario. With a foundation in classical piano and a degree in jazz vocals, she masterfully blends her deep musical knowledge with a passion for pop — to create a unique genre she calls "dark pop ballerina music at the opera." She creates a dramatic fusion of dark pop and orchestral instrumentations, offering a cinematic experience to listeners.
Lovelee embodies an eccentric yet vulnerable persona, drawing inspiration from icons like Lady Gaga, Halsey, Melanie Martinez, MARINA, Mitski, Freddie Mercury, and Phantom of the Opera. Her music addresses themes of self-growth, acceptance, power struggle, mental health, religion, and heartbreak. Her most recent album "Phase 2: Power Struggle” is about the beauty and chaos that comes with reclaiming your power.
Born in Canada, Lovelee found herself drifting away from her Chinese heritage but is now inspired to reconnect with her roots. She hopes to encourage listeners to explore and embrace their own cultures as well. She believes in the acceptance of all cultures and identities, and advocates for mental health awareness. Her music and art transforms pain into powerful anthems; helping listeners find courage and empowerment at the end of the song. With an early fascination with skulls and the contrasting colours of black and pink, she weaves these striking visuals into her storytelling, seamlessly expressed through music, art, fashion, and movement.
As an independent artist, she has achieved over 100K streams on music platforms and performed at prominent events around Canada such as Breaking Sound Canada (Toronto), Jade Music Festival (Vancouver), Taste of Asia (Markham), York Pride (Newmarket) and Chinatown Festival Toronto. Her music has been featured on various media outlets worldwide such as CBC Radio and Exclaim! Lovelee has received notable grants from FACTOR and Ontario Arts Council, which proves she’s a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Lovelee is a graduate of York University's Music Program, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She further honed her skills through Canada's Music Incubator's Artist Entrepreneur Program, where she learned how to transform her passion into a thriving music career.
As the curtains rise on her journey, VICKI LOVELEE pulls listeners close with her eccentric performance style and theatrical edge. With every note and lyric, Lovelee invites you into her universe, where music is a portal to self-discovery.
